Same Day Crowns

Same day crowns are dental “caps” that cover damaged teeth caused by chips, cracks, and tooth decay.

Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC®) is an advanced milling machine that takes images and impressions of your mouth to create instant ceramic dental crowns. CEREC® Same Day Crowns involves the use of 3D imaging software, computer-aided designing technology, and milling machine. It allows your dentist and or other dental professionals to produce a dental crown in a day. That’s why this treatment is referred to as same day dental crowns.

Among the several benefits same day crowns offer, these three are the most popular:

• Treatment in Just One Visit – Because of the advanced software used, dentists can now design and create your new dental crown in front of your eyes. Once it’s ready, the milling machine will create the crown and it can already be used to complete your treatment.
• Minimally Invasive – Before CEREC®, dentists use a pink putty to get the impressions of your teeth and this usually results in discomfort. With today’s technology, patients with a high gag reflex and those who easily feel uncomfortable can now get their dental impressions digitally.
• No Temporary Crowns Needed – The old practice requires you to wear a temporary crown since your dental impressions will be sent to an off-site lab. The creation of your new dental crown will take a few days or weeks. With CEREC® same day crowns, you simply have to wait a few minutes or hours for the new crown to be created.

Same day crowns using CEREC® work by initially taking digital images of your mouth and teeth. The system takes 360° images of your teeth in order to create dental crowns that fit your mouth. An impression of your teeth will be taken to create a mold that the CEREC® technology will use to fabricate your crowns.

Such an advanced machine uses a ceramic block to create crowns that are specially fitted to your mouth—referencing the images and the impression. A high-quality resin will be applied to the treated tooth and the same day crown will be secured into place.
